Last night I had a dear friend stop by. Heart of gold. Deeply cares about those around him. I worry he struggles to feel he is good. He’s not. He’s better than good. Here are a few things I think I know…
There is warm light and there is consuming darkness. We are never in one or the other all the time. We live in the grey. But yet we somehow struggle as humans to accept this for us and for others. We are all fellow travelers. There isn’t the right way, there isn’t the wrong way. There is just us, all of us, struggling to navigate the grey.
Lest we judge ourselves or others please remember. We don’t start this life with a white canvas and then spend a lifetime trying to keep blemishes away, but rather we paint. We paint with beautiful colors. All of our experiences. The things we do, the things we don’t do. It all serves to represent a beautiful depiction of a soul that sojourned the best they could through this very small moment of infinite time.
One day we will fully bask in the light. But while we are down here in the grey, we need to give each other grace. Let us lock arms and ride these seas together. Loving ourselves and each other along the way.
